Yippee- ki-o-ki-a

I saw this sign the day after the advertised event. It cracked me up. I’m totally certain I would have gone. (Yeah, right) Can anybody tell me what Cowboy Mounted Shooting is?? It doesn’t sound remotely safe. About ½ mile before this sign was one advertising a tractor pull. We could even go to a rodeo this weekend. I told you I live in the country!

So Yippee- ki-o-ki-a– here comes Quick Draw McGraw. Does anyone else remember that cartoon? I think that just dated me, big time. Enjoy your weekend.

Glad to hear about Cody!
Oh I would love going to all of those events!

Just call me a country bumpkin! Oh but instead of pink pumps I'll wear pink cowgirl boots!

I loved those carttons didn't it come on with Hulckleberry Hound and Yogi the Bear?

Dating ourselves together!

I'm hooting... (or laughing)! Since we now live out west and actually pastor a church in "The Cowboy Capital of the World"... (the whole town has maybe 300 people - if you count the dogs and cows... and on a GREAT day we have 20 in church and that is a "crowd")
When I think of "Mounted Cowboy Shooting"... I wonder - I can visualize them actually mounting a cowboy and taking turns shooting at him... I know,I have a weird sense of humor...
And yes, I do remember Quick Draw McGraw.
In one town where we lived, they had a farm days festival and in the "parade" - consisting of a fire truck, police car and tractor pulling a wagon - they actually threw SWEET POTATOES at the crowd of 10! Yeah, we had enough sweetpotatoes to make a casserole for Thanksgiving.

All this for a girl who grew up in Atlanta, lived in Dallas, Phoenix, Tulsa and West Palm Beach... major culture shock!

Some of the signs we come across crack me up. I saw one today that said, Fat People are harder to Kidnap! I am not even kidding you. Who thinks up these things? Cute post.

I remember it too. I think it goes something like Yippee- ki-o-ki-a galloping all the way fastest gun in the west.

I am not sure what that sign meant but an idea popped in my head when I read it and I won't say what it was to keep this post G rated.

i loved the shofar video...it amazes me the sounds they can get out of the horns...i used to play trumpet in high school and college, and believe me, this takes unbelievable mouth and breath control

I went to the "Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association's" website...who'd a every thunk it... and found this description:

Cowboy Mounted Shooting® is a multi-faceted equestrian sport in which contestants compete using two single action revolvers, loaded with blank ammunition specifically manufactured to CMSA standards. Mounted contestants shoot 10 reactionary targets while negotiating a specified course of fire on horseback.

a lot different than what ran thru my head when I saw your sign...

Oh yes I remember Quickdraw with his sidekick Babalouie(sp?) And the other cartoons that went with it including Tooche Turtle and ... "Heavens To Murgatroid" Snagglepuss. Too funny.
