Monday Miscellanea

1. I’m looking forward to the Women Inspired Online Conference this week. The line-up of speakers and topics is impressive and the added bonus is that if the timing isn’t right –it will all be recorded and a ticket gives you access to what you miss or want to hear again.

2. I've been back on Weight Watchers for 2 weeks and I’ve lost ONE pound. I’ve also been faithful to the 30 x 5 challenge. Do you ever want to pout and say “NO FAIR!” ? I do. My hairdresser is about 30 years old and when I was in the other day, she had been on a diet for 10 days and lost 7 pounds. She was planning on another 10 days to lose the other 5 she had left. Was I EVER able to lose 12 pounds in 3 weeks? Probably. Did I appreciate that ability when I had it? Probably not.

3. Last night, one of the weather alerts we’ve become so accustomed to came across the bottom of the TV screen. In the last 10 days, it’s warned of tornado watches, hail and severe winds, flash floods and the like. Last night it said “Freeze Warning”. It was 74 degrees with 97% humidity outside! My husband and I just laughed. The station was a bit ahead of themselves. The freeze warning is supposed to be tonight. Spring weather keeps you on your toes. Our newly sprouted garden and small tomato plants are not going to be happy if Jack Frost pays one last visit. Oh well, they’ll live.

4. One small comfort in these economic times is that I just found out we don’t owe the IRS more money for our 2008 taxes. Please remind me when our incomes are up again that it’s okay to pay more taxes if you have more to spend. I’m so happy that our taxes are completed and will be filed on time. I’ve been known to procrastinate until August and that is excruciating. So can I have a pat on the back? I'd rather have a cookie. ; )

5. The road to the next level is always uphill. ~ John Maxwell

Happy Monday!

Hey,
You've included one of my favorite JM quotes.
My husband and I attended one of his leadership conferences a couple of years ago and he is a dynamic speaker.

'Sorry the weight loss is slow. Been there.
I just started South Beach today. I don't really like the idea of cutting out too many carbs but I really need to drop about 5lbs for a possible tv spot next week.
Do you get Ch. 22 and specifically the "HomeKeepers" show?

Consistency over time...

Hey there...I think you have to be careful about talking with folks about losing weight. Nobody loses it the same...NOBODY! Nobody across time loses it the same. It doesn't mean it can't be done, but certainly isn't effortless (no matter what the hairdresser gal said!)

You hang in there. We're watching the frost warnings, too, for tomorrow night. Who wants to cover up plants already--no thanks!

Thanks for visiting during my birthday "extravaganza," not that I had intended it to be so....we have some funny bloggy friends, yes?

Pat, pat!! :)

And hang in there with Weight Watchers. It really does work, but sometimes progress is SLOW.

I am with you on this diet trail. I have been stalled for months. Over 50 it gets impossible. :(

Just think of what a great week that you're going to have very soon though! When it starts slow or you hit a plateau, there's always a big loss ahead :)

I glad for you that you do not owe money on your return taxes.;) I remember how difficult it was every year to fill the forms out correctly.;)
Now living in Europe I have a accountant taking care of that. I usually owe money though and I never did in the US, so perhaps I should be filling out the form myself again.;))
Thank you so much for stopping by my place and for your kind comment.;))

Don't worry too much about what the scale says, because it is misleading. When you are exercising too, sometimes you don't lose pounds as quickly - but you do start losing inches and dress sizes, and you build muscle which burns fat, and suddenly a bunch just "falls off you," so don't get discouraged, just keep on doing what you know is right. It really isn't a diet, it's a new lifestyle, so just settle in to it, and you WILL see results. (If you aren't doing any weight lifting, or toning, I can't recommend that highly enough. Small weights, no more than 5 pounds. The results are amazing).
