Molten-Golden Notes

If you haven’t seen the You Tube video of Susan Boyle yet, you must watch it.

I am fascinated by the tidal wave that's been created by her appearance on "Britain’s Got Talent" April 11th. The YouTube clip has been viewed more than 50 million times in just one week! I believe it’s the underdog in all of us that rises to applaud loudly. In my mind, she represents the unfulfilled dreams we all have. Her courage and mettle are as molten lava in the tide of cynicism and defeat that are washing away the hopes of many.

Her life has no doubt changed in the last week. Regardless of her future recording contracts, she has touched the world with her gift. How appropriate that her song choice was “I Dreamed a Dream”.

“From the molten-golden notes,
And all in tune,
What a liquid ditty floats
To the turtle dove that listens, while she gloats on the moon!
Excerpt from “The Bells” by Edgar Allan Poe

Whatever form of expression your song may take, I hope you sing this week.

That was one of the most incredible performances I have ever seen!

I don't watch any of those shows so I am SO glad you posted this.

I literally still have goosebumps.

Just beautiful!

I hope it makes people think twice about judging so much on appearance.

But I'm not holding my breath.

The thing that "annoys" me about this is they all expected her to be a bad singer because she wasn't "beautiful" by wordly standards. This is a woman who spent her whole life caring for her parents and going to church. Sounds beautiful to me, inside & out.

I think it reminded most of us that we judge too quickly. I am amazed at how the crowd went from laughing at her to crying so quickly. It is a lesson we all forget sometimes. There should only be one who judges.

Hi. I just came back to listen to this again.
It's been "one of those days", but now I feel better.
I'm going to have to bookmark this.

(ps...Donny and Marie weren't my faves either. lol. But I can't play Karen Carpenter and Dick Van Dyke Every week. hahaha)

Yes, this really touched me. Such a sweet, beautiful voice. I love her little look of "Uh-huh, thought I couldn't sing, didn't you?" when the crowd turned her way, and then her great victory yell at the end!

I've got to be honest, if she were attractive I don't think there would be nearly this much hype. It's sad how shocked people are that she sounds good!
