Sugarplums in the Big Apple

Once again, parental duty has catapulted me into an exciting place. (Oh the tales I could tell!) Cupcake had set aside money last year when she graduated from high school for a trip to New York City. She’s wanted to go for years and I advised her to do something significant and memorable with her gift money. She has talked about it constantly since then and decided the ideal time to go is during December to see the Christmas displays while experiencing the city. She desperately needed someone to go with her and I got elected! WooHoo!! Daughter-in-love is coming too - we’ve been planning this for months and we’re going next week!

I bought a new coat this week and am making final preparations. We’re going to see Mary Poppins on Broadway and have an itinerary sketched out. We’re discussing the hop on hop off double-decker bus ticket for 2 days, 1 day or not at all. Let me know if you have any thoughts on that or anything else.

Life is a grand adventure!

wow, sounds great! I would also like to see NY at Christmas time! I saw it at New Year's once, but that is a different story all together!
Of course I am biased, but I would get tix to see The Nutcracker personally!

Have a great time,
BG

We flew up one year on Christmas morning and had a marvelous time. Where are you staying? Be sure to take it all of the windows at Bergdorf Goodman, Saks, Macy's, Barney's and more. You will likely find yourself in a line snaking around the building. Oh, and you have to go to Rockefeller Center and to Central Park to the skating rink. They are magical at Christmas. We have never done the double-decker bus tour so I cannot vouch for that. Ann-Haley's favorite shopping spots are H&H, Top Shoppe, and Zara as well as the innumerable boutiques in the SoHo District. Be sure to visit Canal Street for undercover knock-offs and wonderful scarves. And the food from the street vendors there is delicious. You haven't lived until you have had a streetside brat or gyro! Love you

you really, really need to see the Christmas pageant at Radio City...it is truly amazing!!! a live manger!!

I am not sure I would do the bus. I have been many times and I think you will do a lot of waiting for the bus. You can still get a city pass that gets you into all the sites if you want. Ellis Island is a must if you have time. I love the history and the stories told there. If you get down to Little Italy, there is a VERY small italian restaurant called Rays....probably the best italian food I have ever eaten!!

Canal street is great for knock off purses, watches etc.

if you have any questions, just email me!!!
