Cock-a-Doo-Dah

In today's news, I bring you the Fowl Report.

The chickens have set up housekeeping in the cackle house. Oh yes, it’s a house with windows and a door, laying boxes and a large screened porch that is as secure as Fort Knox. Builderman simply doesn’t know how to just slap something together. This chicken house is built to last- just like everything else he makes. I still smile when I recall the year the church asked him to make a crèche for the manger scene. No problem. Except they had something crude in mind. Builderman simply doesn’t do “crude.”

The funniest thing about the chickens is one of the roosters is learning to crow (somehow we ended up with FOUR roosters- so one is Sunday dinner sooner than he knows). I was up before daybreak one morning and heard a weird noise break the quiet of the approaching day. I couldn’t identify the sound. When I heard it again, I went out to the back porch to listen. It was one of the roosters trying to crow. It reminded me of hearing a middle school student practicing a band instrument. Rough. I wish I could have figured out how to record it so you could hear it. It's really quite entertaining.

I refuse to be that interested in these critters. I figure they are a food source. Period. It's supposed to take 5 months until they start laying, so I'm watching all this from a distance until then. Builderman, on the other hand, thinks this whole project is the bombdiggety. Happy Friday!

P.S. I'm sure he would want me to note that the roof hasn't been shingled yet. You mean you didn't notice? LOL

I think Addison is going to need a playhouse when we move up there. Can we put in a reservation? :)

Wow! That's nice!! So funny: "Builderman doesn't do crude." That's a good thing, right?

I played your five words game today--thanks!

Builderman is quite talented.

As for the roosters learning to crow...you must come to my blog today. It is my 5 words. One of them is SONG and listening to my son's band rehersal from 3 years ago will probably be exactly the sound you are hearing...lol.

I absolutely love this chicken house/enclosure. I always wanted one just like this. I raised two chickens here in the suburbs, once. One was a rooster and we were his parents at the time he began crowing, so I know the noise you mean and it is truly hysterical. You are a gal after my own heart w/these chickens here.

And when it came time to eat ours, I.T. butchered them at his dad's family farm, far from here, brought them back and I cooked them, but absolutely could not eat them. I was sad. It was weird.

That's a very professional looking egg farm you got set up there! I'm sure it's to code, too!!

A friend of mine has a few chickens, and they have no difficulty bringing on the eggs. She handed me an easy dozen one Sunday, which I promptly turned into waffles! You may need to line up some resources to share your bounty once everything starts up.

So, are you Eggmarketingwoman or does Builderman have that gift, too?

I would love to have chickens. I always dream of a house in the country side where I would grow my own vegetables and have chickens.;))
Hope you are having a lovely weekend as well.;)

What a great chicken coop.. er.. mansion. I hope builderman gets the shingles on before it rains. Wouldn't want those chickens getting wet now would we? LOL!

Honestly, you are so blessed to have a husband with his skills and desire to work with excellence.

I love this!! I had no idea you were a country gal. You are living my dream. I missed the Night of Terror post the first time around, thanks for posting a link... how tragic yet hysterical! The new enclosure looks pretty sturdy, they should be happy there.
