The Taste that Refreshes

It’s fun to learn new things and pick up fresh ideas, so today I’m participating in Works for Me Wednesday. You can click on over to “We Are That Family” for hundreds of tips.

Have you tried the Green Bags that are supposed to keep fruit & vegetables fresher longer? When I stayed with Uncommon Blonde, she sent me home with some of hers. My observation is they work pretty well. If I still had a child in school, I would have them do a science project with these and I’d find out exactly how much they retain freshness. The key seems to be putting the produce in them DRY. If it keeps produce fresh even 5 days longer, that saves money! I buy a lot of fresh produce.

I picked up on Uncommon Husbands’ favorite drink while I was there too. It’s called an “Arnold Palmer” and it’s simply half lemonade and half unsweetened tea. Very refreshing.

The best stress reliever I picked up while I was there was this snugglebug. She’s a month old now and we’re going this weekend to see her. YAY! Holding her is blissful.

Awwww, what a darling.

I have heard that those bags work--my mom told me so it must be true. :)

And finally, I LOVE me some Arnold Palmer. Think I'll make one this afternoon. Yum.

Arnold P's are our favorite, too.
We always keep tea and lemonade around here for mixing.

I have always wondered about these bags. 5 days longer would be great for me. We buy TONS of fresh produce here and I would love to squeeze a few more days out of it!

I saw those bags at Save-a-Lot and wondered if they worked.

Great tip!

Holding a baby is very soothing. Unless they are crying. :) My new summer drink is half lemonade and half gatorade. I call it lemongatorade. :)

I've never actually tried those green bags before. I always want to, but then I realize I buy little fresh produce, so it wouldn't make much difference.

Have you ever tried those "vacuum clothing storage bags"? I'd be interested in knowing if those work or not.

Babies are very soothing to hold. Unless they're crying.

I need to get some of those green bags asap. Half of our grocery bill is produce every week (I know, why am I not thinner???) and inevitably we end up skipping a planned meal for some reason and the produce goes to waste.

Amen to the best stress reliever. What a great post....so glad that I stopped tonight. This summer has been so crazy that I have not visited some of my favorite blogs often. I always enjoy stopping by yours. Have a Happy Sunday! I have a giveaway going through Monday morning.

Already a month! Seems like just the other day. Seriously.

She is so beautiful. And that picture looks like a professional took it.

By the way, your kids wouldn't need a green bag to do a science project. I think I have one (science project-not green bag), in the veggie compartment of my fridge right now. lol. Maybe I should look into those bags. I really hate waste.

I've been trying to get back on track and catch up on reading my great bloggy friends posts....slowly but surely getting caught up.

Have a great day!
